Questions for the ladies that bake.

I know it might sound like cheating and it definitely wont taste the same as baking from scratch... but I have a questions about the box cake mixes.

I made an upside down pineapple cake with one of the vanila cake mixes that comes in the boxes. My family loved it and to me, it tasted just fine and took less time to make.

Have anyone ever used these mixes and re-done other deserts? For example I was thinking of getting pumpkin and integrating it into the cake mix... do you think it would work?  Have you ever done something like this? if so, how did it go?

yes sometimes and i add fresh ingredients like for banana bread i add banana and walnuts to the mix
