Smarter Seasonal Spending Challenge Day 12: Host a Cookie Swap

During the holidays it always feels like you need to bring snacks to school, to friends and other events. Host a cookie swap to easily stock up on a variety of treats. You'll only need to buy ingredients for one kind of cookie, but after the swap you can freeze the cookies and bring an assortment to any get-together. Have each person bring 2-4 dozen cookies and then swap! You can even package cookies up as an inexpensive gift option.

Have you ever hosted a cookie swap? Have a tip for others?

I do not. I bake cookies with my kids for the holidays and decorate them. We eat maybe ten cookies as a family throughout the season. I honestly think this would be a waste of time and encourage us to eat sweets we normally would not eat.

I have never been invited or hosted one, I'm not sure if I would want all those addational baked goods at my house. It might be worth a try.
