I was wondering if anyone out there has used Ebay to sell unused/unwanted items around the house?

i have a TON of my daughters clothes/winter gear, shoes, etc. to get rid of and because of having a last minute surgery i was unable to get a sale together.

I was wondering in particular how you handle the shipping fees?  how much do you charge and how do you figure it all out without running to the post office 100 times.....?

any info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I use Ebay all the time. Uusually for the shipping, I price similar items on Ebay and see if there is an average.

I use those "For Sell in ....." pages on facebook.  So far, my daughter has earned $52 by selling a bunch of her old books and a few toys.  We are meeting someone today and she'll make $5 more. I used them last year to sell some of her old clothes and to buy some.  I don't remember now how much I made.  I know it wasn't enough to get rich or anything, but it'll buy ya dinner at least.

I took my item to the post office and figured out the cost for shipping then used that price.

This is what I do, too.

Also, if you have a scale at home you can weigh the packages and print your own label so you don't have to stand in line.

Look at what other people are charging to ship similar items.

Thanks to everyone for the info i greatly appreciate it.  the other day i sold my daughter's columbia winter jacket on ebay and shipped it priority flat rate you know the one "if it fits it ships" but i thought 11.35 for shipping that way was a little extreme.  i had also thought about getting the envelopes and boxes from ebay but i don't know if they charge for them i will have to look into it more i guess.

if anyone has anymore advice, tips or tricks about ebay please let me know..... i would so greatly appreciate it.

i tried craigslist for a while but got tired of negociating a time/place to meet or waiting for someone to show up and then they are a no show it just sucked to say the least.  Plus i got 3 responses yesterday from 3 different people and all it was was my ad no questions etc.  i just deleted them as i figured they were just junk mail unless craigslist has changed something i am unaware of.....
