Yes - usually about a week to 10 days before.

Most years I grow my own to carve. I love to carve pumpkins but at $4 a piece it gets really expensive. Every year I buy one or two foam ones and carve those and add them to my collection. The goal is to be able to line my driveway with carved pumpkins.
I usually carve the real ones about 3 weeks before halloween and seal them.

We don't, only because we have several in the garden. If the kids want one, they're welcome to use it...however, they're older now and don't show much interest in it.

We usually get ours two or three weeks before halloween. After they carve their pumpkins we roast the seeds.
