How do you save money when shopping for groceries

How do you save money at the grocery store? coupons? off name brands? what helps your family?

I use to have one store over another with better prices but it seems the stores that were cheap are not much better than any other now, I do use off name brands and look for sales

Buy fresh produce that is in season

Buy in bulk when on sale

I go to a store that is supposed to be cheaper.  I used to be big into coupons but most of them were for things I didn't really use, so often I get off-brand items.

I comparison shop, know my prices, buy generic, use coupons, etc.

I get the sale adds for three stores and I make a menu for two weeks based on those sale adds.  Then I get coupons and use them for everything I can.  All the other items I buy the cheapest brand of the item I need.

I buy a lot of store brands, use coupons if I have them, and I shop strictly from a list that I make after I plan my meals for the week.
