Ah I remember pasta and stewed tomatoes as a kid!

Quoting Mommyagain39:

some of my standby always involves tomatoes of some sort!!! hahaha. spaghetti, goolosh, not sure that is how it is spelled.   Anyway, pasta and tomatoes always standby. another would be tuna noodle casserole.

I do a lot of rice dishes. Taco rice, chicken rice, beef rice, etc. I also do spaghetti, pancakes and eggs, stuff like that.

I do ingredient shopping too!

Quoting Amberleigh81:

Black beans and salsa aka "cheap man's black bean soup".

Stir fry with brown rice or quinoa.

Tuna sandwiches.

Some sort of pasta skillet meal with leftover veggies and whole wheat noodles...

My pantry is full of ingredients, not meals, so the day before grocery shopping is like any other day, minus some refridgerator foods. :)

Steak & eggs with hash browns homemade bread with strawberry jam. LOL

We have a freezer stuffed to the brim as well as a cellar with garden produce to last a year. If you notice there's no mention of milk as we don't have any milking cows. I have thought about that though.....

My fave thing when groceries are low is to make homemade Macaroni & Cheese.  I always have elbow macaroni & cheddar cheese on hand.  My recipe also calls for a can of cream of mushroom soup and a tiny bit of milk.  It is good and inexpensive to make.
