Do televisions use a lot of electricity?
I ask because my teens are all now leaving their tv's on in their room all night. Our electric bill is high enough and I don't want to be mean and make them turn them off. I don't know why they need them on, but was just wondering. They all have older model tv's nothing very new.

They sure do use power when they're left on that long. We have slowly been switching out TVs for the newer flat screens....less power usage. My ADHD son leaves his TV on all night...the white noise helps him sleep better.
We have the option to monitor our electric usage and we noticed a HUGE spike in electric use for one day when my kids (which both have older model TVs) used their TVs all day. Not true for our newer LED TVs. Be the parent, have then turn them off. Regardless if it's alot of electricity of not, it's still a HUGE WASTE.
