Just wondering how many of you garden and do you do it to save money or for the organic veggies?
I do it for both reasons....and I can't get my tiller out for a couple of months yet! LOL
This year's garden will be a huge producer *I hope*. I have all the heirloom seeds I need.
This is what I'm planning this year:
- green beans
- broccoli
- beets - both red and gold
- brussels sprouts
- cabbage - both red and green
- carrots
- cucumbers
- sweet corn
- kale
- romaine
- assorted salad greens - bibb, oakleaf, leaf lettuce, etc.
- spinach
- melons - watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew
- pumpkins - pie and jack-o-lantern
- butternut squash
- spaghetti squash
- zucchini
- banana peppers
- jalapeno peppers
- sweet bell peppers
- green peas
- 4 kinds of tomatoes: beefsteak, roma, cherry, grape
These will be in a container garden:
- Herbs: basil, dill, chives, oregano, and parsley
- mint: peppermint and spearmint
- stevia
I will also have producing strawberries, apples, and grapes this year.
We are going to attempt a garden again this year, but I have to tweak what we are planting.
Both. I no longer trust the food system we have. I have a compromised immune system and am terrified of eating GMO tainted food. We have expanded our garden every year. And plan on doing it again this year. We are also putting in fruit trees. We need to push for better labeling laws. I can (pressure cooker), dry, and freeze our crops.
