Getting New Moms Adjusted to Mommyhood One Step at a Time

Group Home
I am a SAHM and dh works so he puts into a 401k and since I don't work I don't. Well I was thinking of starting. To match what he pays into his 401k into our savings or to ajust hist his 401k where he puts more in.

Suggestions ideas?

Receiving disability does not prohibit you from contributing to a retirement account.  An IRA is absolutely always better than regular savings because it is tax advantaged.  Some are tax advantaged now (regular IRA), some are tax advantaged later (Roth IRA).  You can even have an identical savings account to the one you have now, but it would have preferential tax treatment.  You can set it up at your regular bank.

There is absolutely no reason to pay more taxes than you need to.
