How far in advance do you plan dinner?

Lately, I've just been figuring out what dinner will be about thirty minutes before dinner-time.  As you can imagine, this is not a very good plan!  I need to get back to making a menu.

How about you?  How far in advance do you plan dinner?

wow!  Do you go to the store and buy everything for the month or go in spurts?

I never plan it. I don't have to cook for anyone til the weekend, so its what ever I am hungry for. When I open the fridge.

I check what I have on hand that needs to be used, then check the sales in the newspaper, then make a menu for a week. It saves money and it saves a hassle, having to figure it out at the last minute. Does it always work out? No, but if something happens that plans change, I'm flexible. And, I don't always cook what I've planned, sometimes I change it around. But just having a plan helps.

Some days I know early and plan all day, some days I don't know until I start cooking. I make a menu but only so I can buy supplies for what I plan on making for the next few weeks. So I have a general idea of my options but can make whatever I'd like to.

I try to plan a week at a time, but things usually come up where I have to change a night or two.

That morning normally, sometimes not until that afternoon. If I'm doing hamburger or some type of meat besides chicken I have to get it set out to thaw around lunchtime.
