Check out what mom's thought about the taste of Betty Crocker Potatoes:
Now that I've discovered that I can make mashed potatoes that taste good WITHOUT having to peel all the potatoes, I have a feeling we'll be having them more often. - awhittingtonHow do you add a little "flavor" to your meals?
dh loves instant potatoes..i prefer homemade.
i want to be selected for the influencer program. it seems like the same people are chosen over and over :/
lol..anyways..currently im prefering very little spices to my foods..too much flavor and i'm just not happy...dh loves lots of flavor to his food (and i do normally)..so our spice collection is constantly growing...altough we do have a bad habit of getting stuck on a few favorite spices and not switching it up for awhile. lol.
My Dh is a mashed potato snob. He does not like instant potatoes, he will not eat lumpy homemade potatoes either. They have to be fluffy, creamy, with just the right amount of butter, salt & pepper or he will turn his nose up at them. Forget any other kind of potato too...he will not eat baked potatoes, cheesy potatoes or anything like that.
He is so picky about potatoes, I rarely make them because it makes me mad when I don't get them right and he picks at them. I usually serve rice as a side or stuffing. No potatoes!
I thought...what better way to really test the product than to feed it to Mr. Picky Pants. lol That's exactly what I did.
I made a simple meal. Roasted chicken (his fav), corn and Betty Crocker Garlic & Herb Mashed Potatoes. I have a big family (we're a household of 8 with twins on the way), so I made two boxes. I knew the kids would gobble them up even if Dh didn't like them.
Our meal:

Dh's first reaction...."Where's the gravy??" Yep...he wanted gravy. lol I told him that the potatoes were seasoned...that no gravy was needed. He took one bite and "Mmmmmm!! These are really good!!" He ate them first...before he even touched the chicken and he went back for seconds. =) The kids of course loved them. Thankfully they didn't inherit his picky gene. lol DH couldn't believe that they were instant potatoes. He said they were perfect. So there you have it.....Betty Crocker has mastered the way my Dh likes his potatoes. Even if he did tell me that next time, he still wants gravy.
I love potatoes with my meals although I have never been a fan of instant, I am excited to try them out. I can't wait to get my coupons and see how my family likes them also.
My family have been trying out the instant potatoes for a couple of months,we have really been enjoying them. It's so much more convenient.
We don't normally eat instant mashed potatoes, but we tried the Betty Crocker Loaded mashed potatoes, and the four cheese flavor. I have to admit, they were pretty good!! They are very convenient for when you want something good, but don't have a lot of time to cook. My kids ate them up very fast!
Plan on making some tonight with grilled pork chops!
ETA: I totally forgot to take pictures, but we had the Roasted Garlic potatoes with pork chops and peas!
EVERYONE LOVED THEM! We make them all the time. In fact, when my commissary has a case-lot sale, I always buy a mix-and-match case of the Betty Crocker Potatoes!
I admit that I don't buy many boxed dinners or foods, and I only use potato flakes to thicken up chili or soup that has too much liquid. I'm sure they're extremely quick for those who are pressed for time while cooking dinner. It's impressive to hear that even the pickiest eaters are enjoying the Betty Crocker Potatoes, too.
We like lots of spice and flavor in our meals, so I use a lot of chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, Cajun seaoning, basil, thyme and rosemary to a lot of dishes. I can't even make just a plain burger. . .it has to have chili powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper on it!

I was so excited to be chosen for this because we eat betty crocker potatoes often. They are my "go to" when I don't have a side planned for dinner. I have several boxes of them in my cabinet right now because I always stock up when they go on sale. These boxes have 2 pouches, so for $2 or less I can get 2 meals! My husband LOVES mashed potatoes, and they are such a quick side. This gives me an excuse to go get some of the scalloped and au graten potatoes, because I have not tried those yet - we love the mashed potatoes so much we've just been buying them. I've tried: loaded potato, roasted garlic, garlic and cheese, four cheese, and butter and herb in the mashed potatoes. I can say we loved them all! My favorite is the roasted garlic, and DH loves the loaded potato.
The absolute best thing about these potatoes is I can make them in less than 5 minutes. As long as it takes to boil 1/2 cup of water. You just can't beat that convienence! The flavor is great, too. As I mentioned, we have yet to find one we didn't like. The only thing I could even complain about is the fact that texture can vary if I don't measure just right, or whip them differently or something. That's what you get with any instant potato though. Flavor wise, they are always delicious!
I seem add garlic salt to everything I love it so much- if you love garlic, you should definitely give the roasted garlic potatoes a try. They are so garlicy good :)
