Have you ever strayed from a recipe and discovered a fab new meal? Tell us about it!
Hi,
As a mom, you likely have a list of "go-to" dishes that you make for your family each week, right? How often do you switch it up?
We gave 50 moms coupons for Betty Crocker Potatoes and asked them to re-create one of their favorite potato dishes using Betty Crocker Potatoes. We also asked them to walk us through preparing the meal and to share what their family honestly thought about their new dish.

The first time I made meatballsafter moving out at 18, I pulled out my Betty Crocker cookbook... Unfortunately, I was out of crackers. I had stuffing mix (stovetop) on hand and used it, and I never have tried it with crackers since! I have used the chicken flavored, pork, and the herb flavored stuffing mix. My favorite (oddly enough) is the chicken! Because I used stuffing mix instead of crackers, my meatballs are delicious and moist! They're so good that I helped open a new bar that served lunch specials, and they use my meatball recipe whenever they serve spaghetti and meatballs!

OK- So you take jalenpenos, cut 'em up, seed them, add cream cheese, bacon bits, and shredded cheese. Dip 'em in milk then crushed up cracker crumbs. DO NOT deep fat fry like the normal recipe says. But spray a pan and bake them, maybe toward the end put the oven on broil to crisp them up a bit!! Yum-o. Hoboken style. No wait- this one is not Hoboken style!! LOL! Have Fun!
oh this sounds good...... my oldest one will love these because of Jalenpenos

Call it a twist on a pasta dish.
I don't even remember how it came about but my oldest daughters favorite meal is one I invented myself. We call it Creamy Noodles.
- Your favorite pasta (just about any will work)
- Bratwurst (we use to use sweet italian from the store until we stated making our own from venison and goat)
- One small can of sweetened condensed milk.
Cook the brats (we slice them to bite size), boil the noodles, combine the two and pour on the sweetened condensed milk.
I know it sounds weird but the contrast between salty/spicy brats and the sweetened condensed milk is delicious. The noodles just make more of a meal. Everyone always has 3rd and 4th helpings if there is enough in the pan.
When I ask my oldest what she wants me to cook for her birthday dinner she always picks Creamy Noodles.
Mine wasn't a go-to meal, but I wanted to make a soup and used chicken broth (no salt added) - 2 boxes, and put in onions and garlic and added a pasta (I think I just broke up spaghetti in 3" pieces and added baby spinach that was sliced up. I think I put in a chicken breast as well. It was okay but wasn't fantastic. My husband doesn't much like soups like that although I do. I decided the next day to add and put in no salt added diced tomatoes and added cannellini beans and black beans. I added a bit more baby squash too. It was great. My husband was eating it up and he isn't supposed to eat beans or tomatoes. I sure loved it too. I didn't measure anything but was one bunch of spinach and I ended up using it. I think was just one can each of the beans and might have been 1 or 2 cans of the diced tomatoes. We always look for the no salt or low salt items. I did drain the beans and rinsed them since they were not no salt added.
Do you dice the jalapeno peppers? Would these be moist and sort of soggy and thendip in milk and cracker crumbs? About how many jalapenos for an 8 oz package of cream cheese?

Well I was in the mood on night for spaghetti and only had angel hair pasta, Thompson's sausage and syrup. I know I know it sounds gross but oddly enough its not. I call it "Breakfast Spaghetti!" Good the pasta as you normally would. set it aside. Cut the thompsons sausage into 1/2 inch pieces cook themm in a skillet and just before it is done take your favorite waffle/pancake syrup and pour into the skillet enough to coat the sausage. Let it cook for about 2-3 minutes long enough to coat the sausage. Toss some pasta in a bowl and place sauce and sausage ontop and enjoy!
