What's the best advice your mom ever gave you?

My mom always told me that it was important to pick my battles when it comes to disciplining the kids. Is it something that's really harmful, rude, etc., or is it something that's just annoying?

She has always told me to be greatful for what I have. Also, to never go to bed angry at my DF :)

My mom told me is a lot of work but that at the end is worth it. Just to cherish every moment. and dont worry about the mess in the house. Cause once there big they barely want your help.

Whenever I think it's bad, remember it could be worse and it will get better.

My mom didn't really give me parenting advice, but she did inspire me with how she dealt with my brother's issues while we were growing. When, in third grade, they dicovered he actually couldn't read. She dragged out my old school papers and wrote books to teach him herself. She did it.
