Question: What's your approach for handling public meltdowns?

Options:

I just grit my teeth and get through my errand as fast as possible.

I take my kid outside before he can even get a second scream in.

I sit down with, hold and/or talk to my child until he calms down.

I or dh will get down to their level and talk with them about it.. If they continue we will either take them outside to until they calm down:)

My kids are older now but when they had tantrums no matter where we are I find the nearest bathroom and used to take the kids in there.  Have a talk with them (or the offending child) and let them know that they need to stop and there is no other option.  If you leave the store when they start a tantrum, they get used to it and think it's a free pass to get out of situations they don't want to be in.

Anyway, my kids are older now, so thankfully no more store tantrums.

Get it done as quick as possible.... getting 3 Lo's out the door and into a store is a lot of work.

Tantrums are unacceptable, thankfully he has never thrown one in public but when he misbehaves, I stop everything I do and leave.

Honestly none of my kids have had a tantrum in public. So I guess I would do the first option.

If I can't get them calmed down immediately we leave and go home.
