My girlfriend is coming to visit me. It's going to be her and her 4 kids. I have a family of four so there will be 9 of us all together. They will be staying for 3 days so I have to come up with dinner for all 9 of us 3 times. One night we are going to have hamburgers and hot dogs but I don't know what else I'm going to make. Anyone with a large family have a suggestion for what to make for a large group? I'm at a loss. I'm use to only cooking for 4.

chili(if it's not to hot..though I like it in all weather..)

lets see. for that many

2lbs hamburger meat

2 lrg cans tomato sauce

2 lrg can ranch beans

cook meat, drain, add the other 2 season with chili powered and salt and pepper to desired taste.

I add sour cream and cheese to my bowl and either eat w/corn bread or crackers

(cheap quick and easy)

potato soup(its not as cheap but oh soooo good)

sour cream

velveta cheese

cheddar cheese soup

shredded cheese

bacon bits

cut potatoes into cubes and bowl(like making mash)until you can put fork through them, drain about half water, add cheese soup, 1/4Velveeta, bacon bits, sour cream. Season with desired seasonings.

We use salt, pepper, and a pinch of garlic.

We add extra bacon bits and sour cream and the shredded cheese to our bowl.

eat w/crackers

I would buy them

Quoting xxLukesMamaxx:

This is a great idea! How do you make your meatballs?

Quoting jerzeetomato:

a crock pot full of meatballs and sauce, some rolls and a big pasta salad will be fairly simple to make, won't break the budget and should be crowd pleasing.

Meet me at  The Park Bench!

Are your kids having fun this summer? Mine is!!

I feed 7 people regularly. Some of the stuff we make often is:

buffalo chicken sandwiches

taco salad

baked chicken and potatoes

stir fry

Spaghetti and Garlic Bread or Lasagna

Scalloped potatoes with ham (diced up) and bacon cooked into it

Homemade mac and cheese

Chicken nuggets and french fries (with a side of macron i and cheese with corn mixed in if the nuggets and fires aren't enough).

Macaroni salad and sandwiches.

I normally cook for a family of 7 on the weekends :-)
