Own. This is the 2nd house we've owned & probably not the last :)

To me, that's just splitting hairs. My definition of "own" is that I am fully responsible for all maintenance, repairs, insurance, liability, proprrty taxes, etc.
Renting is a place to live without being 100% responsible & accountable for it.
If you want to express the difference between having a mortgage or not, I personally would say I own (mortgage) or I own it "outright" (no mortgage).
