i keep the items that mean the most to me..and i give away the items that my kids no longer use/need :-)

sold some and gave some away.  I didn't keep any of it after my 3rd baby.

 I gave some of mine away and kept some .

 I sold all of my baby stuff many years ago, like when my youngest was 2.  I saw no point in holding onto all of that stuff when I didn't have a baby and wasn't planning on having another. 

In all honesty if you have a carseat that is more than 5 years old, I would throw it away because it really isn't that safe any longer.

 I do a little of both.  Lately I've been going to *exchanges* where people bring there stuff and people exchange...so, maybe baby clothes for a cool lamp or something...that way everyone can get rid of things they don't need and come back with things they do ;)
