When you attend a baby shower do you always give the same type of gift?

I went to a baby shower recently and I was the only one that gave books as a gift. I always give books.

What about you?

Quoting Peanutx3:

I look at their registry and get something that I can afford.

If I don't have time to knit, I like to get one of those "baby burrito" blankets that have the Velcro on it. Cause lord knows once you get them home, no matter how many times the nurse shows you how, you can not figure out how to do it.

I usually check the registry. I do like to give books, but I often also do that for 1st birthdays. If I give iapers, I give a size 2 or 3. If I give clothes (most commonly for second babies) I give size 6 or 9 months.

I usually always give diapers because it's a necessity.

No, it varies by need.

Don't worry dear, just give it with a gift receipt.

I usually change it up.  Depending on what the person has said they need.  If they don't specify/or say they need nothing, I get cute little outfits, haha.  But never newborn sized stuff.  I feel like EVERYONE gets the smaller sizes and then the kid winds up with a new outfit for every day (after my shower for my son, he had 108 newborn/0-3 mos outfits!).
