children that love medicine

Do any of you have a child that loves to take meds? My son hated medicine. My SO's 4 year old gets excited about taking it. It can be the worst tasting medicine and he doesn't even flinch. As a matter of fact, he makes sure to get every last drop! If his brother is sick and I'm giving him meds, cough meds or anything else, he'll feign sickness to try to get some. I'm concerned that he'll become addicted and have a problem later on. Any thoughts?

He may grow out of it.

One of my boys was like that when he was little, but now he hates taking it.

Thank you! I had never encountered a child that loved it until now and I didn't want any undue worry.

My dd hates taking any liquid medicines. We have to do chewable if at all possible. Ds loves medicine and is one that will ask for it even if he's not sick. He had to take reflux meds from 1-12 months old though and I think that is part of why.

I wouldn't, but I would watch out b/c my friend used to love the little purple chewable tylenol, and came to think of it kind of like candy. Once when her mom wasn't watching, she got the bottle and ate them all at once. She overdosed on them, but they got her to the hospital and got her put right again.

1 mom liked this
Yes, I tell him it's not candy every time he wants it when his brother is getting meds and he wants some. I make sure he can't get to it by himself.
