So this is my frist baby and i was wondering about epidurals. I want to get one but im worried do they put a tube in your pee hole when you have it and when do they take it out? Will it hurt?
It's basically just a shot in your back, along your spine.I know i am not being real technical but that's the easiest way to explain it. I would never have another without one. I have had 3 kids & 1 of the epidurals was not administered properly so it didn't work. OUCH!!!!
what about if you have to use the bathroom?
Quoting Kristin42010:
Ok it's a catheter that goes in your spine. They numb it first. That feels like a bee sting. Then when they do the epideral it's just pressure. Not pain but uncomfortable. Just do yourself a favor and don't you tube it. Because it will scare you. It's not near as painful as pushing a baby out promise!!
Yes they put a tube in your pee hole because you can't feel your bladder and will pee all over yourself. They will take it out after you have the baby, it is uncomfortable but doesn't really hurt. They epidural is worth it! Besides you will be too worried about the baby coming out of your hoohaa to care.

If they do a catheter they do it after yor epidural and you can't feel it! At least they did with me
Trust me, a catheter is going to be the least of your worries lol
what you are talking about is a cathiter(sp.?) with they IF they can't put it in right yes just a little painful but if they know what they are doing you wouldn't even notice until you may feel a warmth on your leg from where they tapped it down lol. They have two forms of epi. One that they put in your back and give you this lovely button(for you) to shot a dose of it and another which is called a spinal that they give you a dose in one shot(which i believe they give with c-sections). Honestly with a epi esp. the one you control it'll feel a little burn but girl you'll be in so much pain you wouldn't even notice lol
Correct me if i'm wrong ladies my preggo brain farts have been on high this week rofl
