My s.i.l. left my brother and her 3 children to go with her boyfriend claiming a mid-life crisis . Now that she has run out of money she is demanding to come back . Does anyone know how to file abandonment of the home charges . She left him with a 18 month old ,11, yr old and a 15 yr old . My brother is just too nice and she does what she wants with him, but I think he has finally had enough. If anyone has any advice please help . Thank you.

I think when you're really having a mid life crisis, you don't tell everyone that you're having a mid life crisis. I'm pretty sure that's not how it works.

He needs to contact a family law attorney and find out his legal options.  A lot of attorneys will do an inital consult for free.  If I'm not mistaken, filing abandonment means that he will be trying to annul the marriage.  Either way, if he has had enough, he should just file for divorce and sue for sole custody by reason of abandonment.

Yikes.  Hopefully he doesn't take her back!

She is still gone but since she has no job and ran out of $ she is asking to come back or threatening to take the kids if he doesnt send her more .....but her own mother asked my brother not to take her back cause everyone around town has seen her with her new boyfriend

That wont be considered abandonment since the kids were left with their dad. His best bet is to file for divorce and seek sole custody.
