So today i went in for my 6 weeks post pardum apptment every thing went great, but i let my midwife know that i was having pain in my right side of my stomach under my rib cage. So she reffered me to a family docter in my area to go in and get my gallbladder checked. But when i called they told me to go to the E.R. to get tested because they cant, they dont have the equipment. So i didnt go today because i dont want to take the baby with me, but it seems i get an upset stomach everytime i eat, and it seems the pain is going to my right hip now and my back sometimes. Has anyone else had problems with this? also what did you have to do?

I haven't but my sister had problems with hers postpartum and had to have it removed.  I would say don't wait to long to go in.  My FIL just had to have his removed and it had gangrene and basically exploded inside of him and the infection had spilled out into his body cavity.  He was in the hospital way longer than they had thought.  Scary!!

Your Dr should have given you a referral to the hospital imaging department so you didn't have to wait in the ER but Drs are weird like that. You can call the hospital and make an appointment for a CT scan and get them to call your Dr for the referral if you don't feel like sitting in the ER. Anyway, yeah it sounds like your gallbladder but it's not an emergency and there are things you can do to make yourself more comfortable until you get it taken out. First if you're breastfeeding start pumping. You can't feed your baby with anasthesia and narcs in your system and you'll be in the hospital overnight. For now the gallbladder stores bile made by your liver and releases it through your bile ducts to break down fat for digestion. The force of the bile being released pushes gallstones toward the ducts which are too small to accomodate the stone and that's what causes pain. The more fat you eat, the more bile gets released. I waited 6 months between getting diagnosed with a gallstone and getting it taken out and all I had to do was never ever ever eat any fat. EVER. Buttered toast sent me to the ER the first time, that's when I found out I had a stone and a piece of cheese sent me another time. Lots of rice, fruit, veggies, lean chicken and fish did the trick. Oh and all the gummy bears I wanted (hey they're fat free). If you ask they will give you the stone, they're kind of neat looking.

That sounds EXACTLY like what my mom use to have happen!!! She went to a specialist and they checked her gall bladder. She had gall stones. They went ahead and removed her gallbladder. She feels SOOO MUCH BETTER NOW!!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!

I had my gallbladder removed but my pain was nothing like that. I did however have a kidney stone about a year and a half ago which sounds like what you described. It felt like awful back labor. My gallbladder had only 3 or 4 attacks over as many years....but it was just behind my someone was squeezing with all their might. That's the only pain my gallbladder ever caused with each attack and it was full of stones and just mush, as the dr put it.

Yes. I had my ds last June & had to have my gallbladder removed the beginning of September. I did not have the full ongoing pain like you. I just woke one morning with a side ache & thought I ha pulled a muscle. Within a few hour I have a full blown attack and was in the worst pain of my life. It was AWFUL!!

The surgery was quick & easy. I went home a few hours after. I was able to nurse my son as soon as I went home. You should have no problems. Join the bfing group to get more info if you are unsure. However, my sister stayed with me the first 24 hours after my surgery & I pumped it then she bottle fed it to my ds since the incisions were right under my breast.

I felt 100 times better a few days later & after that first night I was able to care for ds on my own again.

Get it checked ASAP! The pain of the attack was by far the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life!
