My son lost his first tooth tonight. I want to make it very special, but don't want to go over the top. My brother told me he gave his 7 year old daughter $10 when she lost her first tooth. I'm wondering what the going rate these days?

^this is what we  did too but only b/c my dh did the $5 before I realized how much he gave.  I probably wouldn't have done that much.  $1 is plenty.  Sometimes we have done dollar coins or $2 bills just for fun.  My middle son lost a tooth today and he wrote a letter to the tooth fairy asking for silly bands, lol.  We thought it was so cute so I picked some up to slip under the pillow tonight.

I wasn't expecting his tooth to fall out tonight. He came back from karate and it had came out. I just sent dh to the gas station to get some change.
