I miss the United states so much. We are a military family living in Italy. I feel so alone. I am a sahm(stay at home mom). My hubby is full time Active Navy. So some days I just enjoy visiting the area and teaching the kids history and enjoy trying new things, vacationing to other nearby countries. But, now the people I met when I first moved here all moved away. I have no friends here. I wish I could go home but its a long flight and we just used up time going to other countries we are saving to travel nearby. I wish I could go to Target and shop or buy something at walmart in the middle of the night when I just need something.

I've never lived overseas but I'm really close with my brother who's living in Okinawa right now. He hates it. DH and I also have close friends who have lived in Italy, they loved it. But that was also before they had kids.

It is hard living overseas. For the most part it is hard finding friends since they move around so frequently. Once they leave it is hard finding new ones. I loved getting out in the local economy. We lived in Sicily for 3 years and Rota, Spain for 2 and I loved it. I really miss the markets they had in Catania! If they have a bus that goes to the markets sign up for one if you can. They use to have them when we lived there but that was quite a few years ago. I am sure you will find some new friends. Have a get together with some of the people that your husband works with. That was always a good way to meet new people too. Good luck to you!
