He can swallow his baby formula from a bottle and keep it in. Oh just a little tid bit he was on trime but is the size of a 4 month old. should i worry? Dr. says no because he is gaining weight and growing.  what can I do to help him learn to swallow? please help

Have you added cerial to his bottle yet? If you add only a little bit you don't have to X the nipple but he still gets it, thats how I started my dd.

I used to watch a little boy that had a super high gag reflex. He was 1 and he could only get through a half jar of baby food because it wad such a struggle. He was still on formula, good luck.

I would try adding cereal to his milk and see if that helps.

I also would add cereal to the bottle.

I don't think it's safe to add cereal to a bottle.  I would get a second opinion from another dr.

I know you said you've tried different textures but what about just offering soft finger foods. (small avacado pieces, diced up oranges, etc.) I really didn't do "baby" foods with either of my sons. I also didn't start them on solids until they showed an interest. My oldest that was around 6 months my youngest he was 8 months almost 9 months before he was interested.  When you say he was on "trime" do you mean Trimethoprime? If so I I don't think that would have much to do with him having problems with baby food.

I would try going to another Dr., this time a swallowing specialist.  Gaining wt and growing is great but getting a second opinion won't hurt.

Some kids don't start actually eating a whole lot till about a year. If he's gaining and thriving he's probably fine.
