school bus nightmare: what are the rules and regulations for transporting your young children?!?!
this is long but PLEASE READ I NEED YOUR ADVICE!
last my daughter was accidentally put on the wrong bus. she was in pre-k. so we made sure the driver had a card (which was requred but for some reason he did not have hers) with her name, where to get off, and to only specific people. 2wks later him knowing full well who me and her father were and where to get off at he let her off in a notoriouly bad neighborhood where she was left alone for 45 mins.
this yr my daughter goes to a different school, now in kindergaten and wanting to ride the bus again. i figured i'd let her as long as the same rules apply to kindergatners as do with pre-k. at the classroom visit we as parents were reassured that the children would have name tags on with their info on them so drivers would get to know them and their stops and who to be released to and that as with pre-k they are to ride in the fronts seats of the bus. the teacher said that they or their aid put the children personaly on the bus to assure they are on the right bus. we were give specific bus numbers and times the bus would arrive at each stop.
she has only been in school for 3 days and the bus has been a different number and driver everyday.(how are the drivers supose to get to know the children etc.) as well as 30 - 45 mins late. understanable if a little late but up to 45 mins.?!?! yesterday i went to get her off the bus and after all the children were let off except mine the driver started to pull away. i stopped the bus and asked if she was on (thankfully so but clear in the back) the driver said to me she didn't know the kids and wasn't expected too! y didn't this driver ask me if i was waiting for a child on her bus b4 trying to pull away?!?! my worst nightmare almost came true again!!!! i tried to get ahold of the bus garage so this would not happen but no one answers and the voice box is full.
unfortunately a mutal friend of mine and my ex-husbands went thourgh this yesterday as well and her situation was worse. the driver sped off and passed not once but twice without stopping till a third time letting her daughter off in hysterics that she wasn't going to be reunited with her mother. the driver didn't even exknowledge her after dropping off her child but sped away again! but b4 letting her child off, threw her hands up at her, yelling at her that she didn't know where she was to let her off at! now our friends daughter thinks it's her fault and is afraid to ride the bus again! fortunately a friend of hers knows someone on the board of transportation who got her and my ex intouch with her lastnight and we're hoping this will be cleared up come mon. aftrnoon! but this should not happen!!!!
have any of you moms experienced these situations and what are the rules and regulations in regards to transporting your children and making sure they get home safe and sound?!?!
