advice on christian preschool

I finally found a preschool close to home. It's a christian based preschool at the lutheran church. The director gaveme info on it, and their main focus is teaching kids that jesus is their savior and best friend, followed by regular learnign/prep for kindergarten. I am not christian, I don't think I even believe in god. All the rules of christiandom seem a little much for me. Df believes in god, but not so much in all the rules (no drinking/smoking/cursing/premarital sex). Im not sure if im comfortable sendding my son there. Id like for him to make his own decisions on what he believes, and not be biased on what "the majority" believes. I grew up mormon, and went to church/was baptised mormon because its just what people did where I grew up. I dont want my son todo that just because he feels he wouldn't have friends if he didn't. Are there any moms who have been through this or have felt this way? What did you do? My son,who is 3 1/2, has been dying to go to preschool.

Well you show proof that you were raised that way,but made your decision! You should weigh whats more important to you? He starts pre-school or you he goes to one thats comfy for the whole fam?

I might just wait until next fall and send him to the one at the elementary school. I don't want to be uncomfortable with him going to a chistian based one, but want him to be able to go. I never realized preschool would be such a tough decision. Lol

If I wasn't Christian, I wouldn't. Especially if you might not believe there is a God.

Just like I couldn't send my son to a Catholic School. It would be personally too hard to get that all the time & be so young. For me to be the "outsider" at school functions. I couldnt' do it.

There are so many religious type schools around here but I'm atheist so I would never use them. It is hard though to just find and get into a regular preschool. good luck in whatever you choose.

After talking to df about it, he doesn't want to do it. It would cost us $90 to start, then $55/mo there after. I know its not a real big amount of money, but we still cand afford it. We are going to wait until next fall and send him to the one at the elementary school, where we will only have to pay for crayons and glue sticks and what not. Also, being at the public school, I wont have to feel uncomfortable about the big christian influence.
