Creative Play Challenge Day 7: Spark a New Dinner Conversation

Posted by   + Show Post

The holidays are a wonderful time to bond as a family, and what better time than over dinner! Kick off great conversations tonight by asking each family member one question about themselves. For example: "If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?" Or "What qualities do you look for in a friend?" You may learn a lot more than you expected!

Check out this article for five additional ways to inspire meaningful conversations with your family over dinner.

mealtime is not really a together time for us..... DD is 2 and a very poor eater... so mealtimes arent conversation times. but dh did make dinner just now and we talked about how ive been craving the same thing this pregnancy as i did with dd... grilled cheese... and maybe thats why dd likes cheese lol

We talked about how many days until Christmas, wanting to go on a trip to TX to see their uncle, trying the new cookies I made (hot cocoa cookies, very yummy!) and about why Daddy has to work (so we have a place to live, food to eat, etc.). DDs are 3 and 5 and VERY talkative.

Every meal together we share what we are thankful for that day.

Instead of focussing on this positive, our almost 6yo DD began speaking about how she can't believe how no one seems to care Chanukah comes first this year & all she sees is Christmas stuff. We had guests to boot! We discussed what it means to be a small minority, marketing, etc. Heavy duty topic!

we always talk about our day and what the older two learned in school that day . . . sadly I missed dinner with the kiddos today as I had to work, but tomorrow we will make up for it on the drive to school . . .
