No sex! The prostaglandins will ripen your cervix and cause dilatation!

1 mom liked this

I'm a little late but I had mine put in in October of 2012 I went for our anatomy scan & found that I was 6cm with bulging membranes, my cerclage was done on an emergency basis to try & save my pregnancy + the baby, because of the circumstances I was on bed rest for 8.5wks & haven't been able to have sex since. My doctor has already told us that with any other pregnancy they are going to actively monitor me & electively put the cerclage in between 12-13wks so that I won't be taken out of work, etc. I'm now 36wks + 5 days & my cerclage will be removed tomorrow morning.

If you'd like I can update you on what happens from there after my appt.

I had the cerclage removed on Jan 31st in the office, it was a little uncomfortable but not unbearable, I was 1.5cm 0% effaced... i was allowed to resume normal activities including sex. I ended up going into labor 2wks later at 39wks 1day & she is healthy + came in 4 pushes ~ 8lbs 6oz 20in.

I had one done in my fourth month.  Mine was successful until my 32nd week.  It complicated my delivery cause dd wanted OUT and they had to snip the stitch and break my water.  Not fun.  I have an incomp. cervix and had that done and was on progesterone injections weekly. I should clarify that the circlage didn't fail and put me in labor.  I had had so may issues with contractions and spotting that I didn't recognize I was in real labor until the urge to push whacked me over the head.  Second baby and I didn't recognize it!  Can you believe that?!

Nobody told me that so when I went to the specialist for my next appointment I asked.  I got some serious side eye and the doc wanted to know if my husband wanted to know.  I told him no that it was me and that  it was embarrasing, but the hormones had made my sex drive go through the roof!  Nature can be so cruel sometimestoddler tantrum

A big, fat, sad NO. Then he laughed and looked relieved.  Made me wonder what kind of husbands he was used to dealing with.
