Do you believe animals go to heaven?

Posted by   + Show Post
I once killed a spider and told my daughter that 'he was going to spider heaven'. That made me thinking. Do you believe animals have a special heaven, do u think they come to human heaven or dont u believe in heaven at all?
Ps. Do you say to your kids that bugs u kill go to heaven just to comfort them?

Yes and yes.  I usually scream when I do it and that drowns out the sound....then flush.  If I could keep my composure, I would figure out a better way but like I said, I get so freaked out that I just do it and fast!  There have been too many times that I have lost one not being quick enough!!

Quoting jenna30:

Eeww, are u brave enough to squish them in a paper!? Dont you hate that crunch? Do you flush them afterwards?

Quoting SlapItHigh:

Ew, those wall stains are terrible!  I get them with mosquitoes....thank goodness for Magic Erasers!  For spiders, I rarely have time to get a good look and evaluate whether they are poisonous or not.  I don't know if I've ever splatted one against a wall though.  I usually squeeze it in a tissue or paper towel, whatever I can grap quickly.

IMO, there is no ethical or moral concerns with killing bugs in my home.  I could see a concern if one was intentionally seeking out bugs especially out in nature and killing them with a negative intent, maybe then...even then I don't know.  It would seem unusually cruel if it was of malicious intent.  For sport, as long as it's not harmful to nature (no shortage of numbers) then it wouldn't bother me.

But if someone has their own ethical or moral concerns, then they can follow their conscience.

Quoting jenna30:

I try to kill the poisonous spiders, but let the normal house spiders live. I dont like the stains they make on the wall...

Quoting SlapItHigh:

Every once in a while.  I remember when a praying mantis got in the house and we made sure to get him out alive.  Spiders and mosquitoes always get killed.  I'm too afraid of being bit to try to get them out alive.  It's hard enough for me to even kill them, I'm so freaked out by them!  Ticks always get killed for fear of disease.  We don't get flies often but I do tend to swat them out the door instead of killing since I usually catch them right when they come in through the garage.  If I'm not near a door, I will kill them instead since it would likely be too hard to get them to a door or open window without a screen.  Our main issue is mosquitoes, not a lot of other bugs in the house.

Quoting kristen32:

I try to catch and release as much as possible, for example spiders, to teach the kids respect for life. Do you never let the bugs live and try to get them out alive?

If I lose one, I think, 'what if this comes and bites me while I sleep', lol!

Yeah, you dont want to lose them! But why not use the fly swatter instead of squishing? then you dont have to get that close!

We don't get spiders enough to keep the swatter handy.  We have boxes of tissues readily available that I can grab in an instant.  the fly swatter is under the sink.

Yes, I always thought so as a kid, then wondered as an adult. Religion is a tricky thing for me. I believein God and that Jesus died for our sins, but I have some issues with the idea of organized religion. I have had two friends that have had life after death experiences. They are not flakes. They are very down to earth and not at all prone to this kind of thing they where also not "religous fanatics". One, a male, died of sickness, said he "flew away" and saw the blindingly bright light and God spoke to him, and sent him back. The second, a female, died giving birth and said she saw every thing from above her self and as "flying away" the hospital staff, her family in the waiting room, heard all the conversations, every thing. She then saw a mass of rainbows....and then endless fields and flowers with rainbows(she said green fields and flowers and rainbows every where as far as the eye could see) and , yup, you guessed it...animals. When she was telling me all of this it reminded me of a story I saw on 20/20 or some thing years ago about a little boy dying of cancer, and he would draw all these pictures of "Summer Land" and he said it was a safe and beautiful place with fields and flowers and rainbows (and I think he mentioned animals also, but I am not 100% sure) and that while he was there he was told that's where he will be going when he dies. After my friend told me her experience that's when I was personally convinced that animals also go to that place.
