New Kitten

We will be getting a new kitten in August.  I have a laid-back, 4 year old male cat now.  Any suggestions on how to introduce the new to the old?  Our cat, Conner, is friendly when other pets come to visit, but I am not sure how he will react to sharing us!  Thanks.

Put kitten in a room, close door and let them smells each other.

Thanks.  The shelter advises keeping the new cat in a room by itself for a few days anyway.  This should work fine.  Since I have a boy kitty I think we should get a female.  I have heard that male cats fight.

We also kept our kitten separate from our other pets, they could smell eachother so when he finally escaped into the main house, the animals didn't even care lol.
