My 27 yr old son is having his own place. He use to live with room mates now he's geeting his own place. He wants his kitchen to have everything including food wise. He asked me what basic foods does he need in the kitchen I told him cereal, milk, meat, eggs, and seasonings.

Does anyone else have advise on what to tell him to buy?

What cookbooks do you enjoy cooking from?

Rice, potatoes, bread, lunch meat, oats... I mean honestly he's 27, he should know what he likes to eat by now..lol

Cookbooks? I collect cookbooks .. You don't want my list..lol however, a good starter cookbook for anyone would be fix it and forget it series, and get him a crock pot.

Allrecipes.com might be a good place for him to start.  He can use the recipes he likes there to create a shopping list, menu, etc.  My fave cookbooks are my BHG cookbooks- my grandma gave me a Red Plaid Cookbook when we got married, and I got hooked lol.  I also have a few church cookbooks- total I have about seven that I use for different things :)

There's a cookbook called, How to Cook Everything, The Basics. That might be a good starter cookbook.
