If You Are Married: Did you take your husbands last name?

Married moms, when you got married did you take your husbands last name or did you keep your own?

Im wondering because my SIL kept her maiden name when she got married 5 years ago. I also have two friends who have kept their names as well. It seems to be more popular now.

I kept my maiden name and use it as my middle name because I always hated my middle name anyway and never used it and I took my dh's last name as my last name.

The first time I got married, I took his name.

When I remarried, I hyphenated my maiden name with my husbands last name.

I am not married, however if I get married HE is changing his last name or no one will. I will not ever change my last name.
Also Western European decedents are the only one's who do. People in most countries do not. Changing the last name signifies you are their property which is why most do not. (I have a coworker who was researching marital customs of all sorts of places. he happily shared the info with me.)

I did the same thing.  My maiden name is rather long but I like it for a middle name.

Quoting goddess99:
