Many cities nationwide hold National Night Out events. This year, it appears to be August 6. Check your local community news sources to find out what your community will be doing for the event. Many include family friendly entertainment and food, often for free to residents.

We get a pass for the state parks.  Since my husband is a disabled veteran, he gets the pass for half price.  It has already more than paid for it self.  It gets us into the beach, picnic areas, hiking areas, the lake to fish and just for a Daddy and Mommy getaway.  Camping cost about $20 a night depending where we go.

We frequent the parks.  My boys will usually make their own pool money by doing chores over and above and or helping neighbors.

We have a bird sanctuary here too.  It is great.  It has a lot of hiking trails and natures trails too.

There are other things to do, but we are out doors people.

We are hoping to see Despicable Me 2 on Saturday for the free pre-viewing. Just hoping we can make it early enough to get seats. I didn't even know it was going on. I happened to see a comment you made on the status for it on FB & ran and signed up haha.
