As a society are we prone to overlook the bad behavior of athletes?

The news about Aaron Hernandez, a professional football player, has been all over the news. He is charged with murder and is also being looked at in another murder case from 2 years ago. Reports are coming to light that he has had a violent past history. When he was 17 he was questioned in the shooting of 2 men in a car. He was also reportedly involved in fights when he was a 17 year old freshman at the University of Florida.

You also hear so many stories of athletes being passed along in school so that they are eligible to play sports.

Do you think that society tends to overlook an athletes bad behavior and character in search of a win, a championship, a trophy?
