Mom to Mom Mom to Mom

Have you ever worried about your kids getting sick?

I was reading the open letter that Michelle Obama wrote (it's on the yahoo homepage) about how  every mother deserves piece of mind knowing that their child had health insurance.

Basically it talks about their own experience with health care and the new Obamacare law.

What I took from that article was not the Obamacare sales pitch, but the mothers voice that talked about how sick her child once was.

Whether you are for or against the new healthcare law, I wonder how many moms out there constantly worry about their kids getting sick.

If you have insurance is the worry the same as those who do not have coverage?

Do those without insurance worry more than those who do?

Or do we as moms just worry anyway anytime our kids get sick?

My dd is covered and I do worry about her getting sick but thankfully she has never had anything too serious.

My DD has been seriously ill one time, when she had a wicked bad reation to penecylin - for the rest,  fingers crossed she's a very healthy child. I have coverage for her and my XH has a really good plan with his job that also covers specialists, glasses, etc

Yes I do worry. At 2 months my daughter was diagnosed with RSV and in the hospital for 3 days. I worry now when she starts coughing that she is going to start wheezing again. Luckily we have been on a good stretch since then but she is the last one standing at daycare. All the kids have been sick with colds, ear infections, fevers etc. I think we as moms worry whether or not they are covered. There just becomes an extra worry if there is no coverage.

My daughter has a life threatening illness. She has an immune deficiency. It's easy for her to catch everything. She also has autoimmune problems. So yes I know how it is to have a sick child.
My grandson has type 1 diabetes. He is 10 now. He was diagnosed at the age of 2. They both have insurance. I worry constantly about them.

My daughter was without insurance for several months and to be honest I had the same worries as when she did. Her Daddy is supposed to provide insurance and kept promising to get her back on a plan. I was more annoyed during that time then anything else.

My son was born with one lung. I worry about him constantly. He's almost died several times as a baby in the PICU and NICU. So yeah, I worry about him getting sick. Now, he's insured, but I and dh aren't. I worry about us getting sick.

We have decent health insurance so I am not overly worried about the cost of my children getting sick but I am worried about them getting sick...who wants sick kids..not me :)

We have health insurance, but if it was something like cancer, or a brain tumor, heck yes, I would worry.
