...so here I am on my bed looking out the window on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The sun is shining and the breeze is just right. (yeah, I know - what the heck are you doing inside)... I was going to go out for a walk which I love (might do that later) but at this time decided that I would read a book by one of my favorite authors, C. S. Lewis and enjoy the moment of how children loved the adventure that came with reading.

I remember a time when I looked forward to the book fair in school. You knew you got to choose at least 2 books and you knew that they had to be good. Once you picked them up you kept reading until done or better yet you stopped at one point just to leave yourself wanting to go back to the book.

I like technology and all that but not at the expense of a child not knowing the wonderful feeling and adventure it is to be able to go to a library and sign out a book or two. Or to have the wonderful feeling of looking forward to the book fair. Why is everyone even children so dependent on technology now a days? I have a computer yes, but do I need to have internet on my cell as well? I have to wonder the purpose or what I tell myself the reason for it is. Do I just want to look like I have it all together with all the latest gadgets and whatnot's for the sake of others? (not me because I no longer have a cell). I have resorted to the old house phone, and gone back to letter writing etc. I used to love to receive letters from friends and cards etc... I know that now a days no one has time to do these things anymore but if we make time to watch our favorite shows why can't we make time for things that had a great deal of meaning to us at one time?

Enjoy your Sunday afternoon and or evening ... this lady here is going back to reading her book. Oh what book is it you ask? The Chronicles of Narnia - The Magician's Nephew.

have a nice day

Dh and I have Kindle apps on our phones and use them, but we both prefer to read actual books.

When we had a car with a CD player, however, we did keep audio books to listen with dd. because of that, dd had "read" the entire Narnia series before she could actually read. :) She'll read them again when she's on that reading level. I've read them countless times. I also read Screwtape Letters, and have others that I haven't gotten to.

Right now I'm reading Rebekah by Orson Scott Card. It's a pretty good read. :) And it's paper.

I love both. When I go on vacation, its a pain to lug around the five books I'm reading. I can whip out my kindle and be done. But, I love the actual feel of a book. You don't have to charge it, its harder to lose it, and you can't really break a book-well, water, but you know what I'm talking about. I mean dropping it.
I do prefer actual books, but I have a love for my kindle that an actual book can't replace.
