Help with growing pains!

My 3 year old has been having horrible growing pains lately. I never went through this with my oldest so I am feeling pretty clueless. She will wake up in the middle of the night and just cry for an hour that her leg hurts. A pain reliever helps most nights, but I hate to give meds if I don't have to. Does anyone have any tips/tricks on how to ease the pain?

Think massages are supposed to help. Maybe some extra potassium in her diet too.

Massages, heating pads and extra potassium (like bananas).

I remember when I got growing pains, and so does my dh. Massage the area that sore and give her bananas, baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, dried apricots, etc.

Here is a chart I found that shows high potassium foods:

I don't ever remember Cameron having them. They started for Kaitlyn the night before her 3rd birthday. Shes so pitiful. Some nights shes not even fully awake and just crying in pain. :(
