A food holiday celebrated on April 3 is National Chocolate Mousse Day.

mousse (French ‘foam’ pron.: / _ mu:s/_) is a prepared food that incorporates air bubbles to give it a light and airy texture. It can range from light and fluffy to creamy and thick, depending on preparation techniques. A mousse may be sweet or savory. Dessert mousses are typically made with whipped egg whites or whipped cream, and are generally flavored with chocolate or puréed fruit. For a savory mousse, hard boiled egg, fish, or liver may be used. (Wikipedia)

During the 1800′s chocolate mousse was a specialty in French restaurants, however it is now found worldwide.

There are several variations per recipe, chocolate type, and extra added ingredients such as fruit.
