This past weekend we took the kids to Build A Bear. They had saved their money and were so excited. My kids love My Little Pony and my 7 year old ds was thrilled to be getting Applejack. As he was choosing his pony out of the bin, another boy came up and started asking why ds wanted a pony. Ds told him he just likes MLP. Then as we were in line to get the animals stuffed the boy again came over and questioned ds asking why he liked MLP. Ds again said that he just does. The boy said "That's really weird". Ds didn't know what to say and just looked at me. The adults with the boy called him back to them and I looked at ds and said loud enough for the kid to hear that I thought it was awesome that ds was getting what he really wanted and Applejack is pretty awesome too. Ds was happy with that.
But I'm curious. What would you have done or said?
* This isn't a debate about 'boy' toys vs 'girl' toys or boys liking MLP so please don't turn it into that.
