Mom to Mom Mom to Mom

is this a sucky Baby shower gift ?

Posted by   + Show Post

Some tupperware (THE brand name Tupperware) guaranteed for life.

Here's the back story ... my neighbor is pregnant with her first.  I know she will be staying home with her baby for at least the first year and she intends to make her baby home made baby food.  So I thought maybe I'd get her a good set of freezer safe container for the baby food, Tupperware products are guaranteed to life are toxin free and frankly REALLY expensive.

Also She has told me she already has a TON of clothes and baby stuff, I already got her a baby monitor & a book when I first found out she was pregnant, then we went on vacation and I picked her up some Michigan state sippy cup and little onsies cause I know she likes them.  Then I'm told I will be invited to the baby shower (crap !)  So I'm trying to think outside the box here ...

If you got that as a gift would you appreciate ? or would you think it was a crappy gift ?

I made all my own baby food when I had DD - on my "baby registry list"  one of the things I asked for was a baby food container set (they used to sell them at babies R us)  all small portions, snack size etc but I figure instead of getting her one of those kits, actually get her something garanteed for life.  So she can use it from the time her daughter is a baby to when she freezes her school lunches ! :)

Tupperware is really nice and very pricey. If I was making my own baby food I would appreciate the quality containers to keep the prepared baby food in.

.... First child?

And she says that, "she plans on making all her own baby food"

Do you think that she will be able to do that, or is it just a pipe dream for her?  ~ Like those parents who (claim that they) will have all organic clothing on thier baby, read Chaucer to their child nightly, teach the child violin by the time he's 2, grow all organic food, and only let the children play with educational toys... Until that day when they realize that the kid's favorite toy is card board box to bang on.

But tupperware containers could be used for anything.  So I would view them more as a 'helpful to mommy' gift, than a 'here's something for your baby gift'/

yes it's her first child - and making baby food is nothing.  I'm no Mary Poppins and I made all of DD's baby food.  I get that tupperware containers are more for the mom - that's why I was asking if it would make a weird gift.   At this point I'm not even sure I'll attend the shower.   Now my husband went and promised her a $30 T-shirt from a concert  that we're gonna go see, so I may just keep the tupperware for myself.
