Don't Know Y I Am Letting This Bother Me, But It Is....

Back in August when we first moved into our new home I announced I would be having a house warming party which would be a Pampered Chef party. I had never been to one before, oredered items before, but never attended the actual party.  So I thought that would be fun, but didn't have a date in mind at the time.

So when my in laws said they would be in for Thanksgiving I thought cool, I'd set it up for the Friday after since she can't travel very well any more, that way she would be here for it.

I found a rep and set the date.  They said initially they would be in, well, then they weren't sure they could make it, but then yes they were coming.  Then she came down with one of her many famous UTI's due to her not going to the bathroom as she should be doing, so once again they weren't sure they could make it in. That was about two weeks ago.  Well, last week she was feeling pretty good and definitely confirmed they would be in.

We go running on a small pay check to purchase everything I needed for the party plus what I needed to make it a special Thanksgiving for everyone.  HOLY CRAP!! FIL calls today to announce she is sick with one of her so called famous migraine headaches once again, to which no docotr or specialist she has seen through the years has confirmed that yes she suffers with migraines.  So guess what?! Once again we are probably not coming in.

What?! Really?! Seriously?!  After all the planning I've gone through for this stupid thing to accommodate  her.  There's no going back now, so oh well!

I don't know why this bothers me, but it does. How about you? Would it get to you, too?

it always sucks when you plan stuff and people bail on you.  Were your In Laws the only ones coming to your house warming / pampered chef party ??

No, I have others coming, but what bugs me is how now they say they aren't coming, then the next day oh yes we are. Making up their dern minds and stick with it!  Stop the on again and off again routine.

To think I planned this party just around her..oh, well.

I remember your frustration over the UTI, and I know the expense of making a Thanksgiving meal (we are doing the same this year). Migraines SUCKS, when I get them they used to out me down for 3 days (before I found essential oils). However, it sounds like she might be trying every excuse not to come :-( Hope they do make it, so all that work was worth it.

For me, I could never understand my mother in law, we are like on two different planets.  Whatever I do, is never the way she does it.  I have learned to just deal with it and expect things to go her way because that's how she trained her kids, to respect her and do what she says.  So I would be annoyed too but just be glad that you don't have to deal with her will she be there or won't she drama.  At least you know now.

She has never been officially diagnosed by any doctor to have migraines.  That's what kills me. If she had been, I might be a little more sympathetic to her cause.  It just seems like every time something doesn't go her way she comes down with a headache.

It's actually gotten to the point after all this time that when she comes down with one of her famous headaches I kid my DH and ask, So...what did your father say or do wrong this time? It's always some one else's fault for her having a headache.

Oh, well, it doesn't bother me that they may not be coming at all, I just wish they would make up their minds and stick with it. Stop the yes we're coming, no we're not, well, maybe we'll be there. Make up your dern mind! Are you or aren't you?

LOL. Are our mothers-in-law related some way? I know exactly how you feel.

At least you have other people coming ... I understand your frustration.  People who bail and/or people who don't RSVP then show up anyways are 2 things that erk me !!

I get that! It is a pain when plans are constantly changing. But your story makes me love my MIL that much more!

No, and that's okay. At least they finally made up their minds and stuck with it.  I was so sick of the on and off again game.
