How much do you spend on shower gifts?

How much do you spend on bridal shower or baby shower gifts? What if you are not really close to the person?

I asked a few people this question recently & I was surprised at how big of a difference I got dollar wise for answers.

I had someone tell me $75-150 was the appropriate amount for a bridal shower. More if you are close to the person. Your amount makes me feel better! lol

Would you spend that same amount on someone you have only ever met 2-3 times and never really talked to? I was invited to a shower for my SO's cousin. He isn't close to her and they maybe see eachother once a year around Christmas. I spent a little over $30 then gave her two handmade gifts that sell for around $20 total on sites like Etsy. (My friend made a personalized ornament and I made her a ring holder and personalized it with her wedding date.)

It seemed like a lot of people only spent $25 or less.

I've never spent less than $30-$35.  I would spend over $100 if I was close to the person.
