LBTL Challenge Day 1

In this hallenge, my daughters and I have to eat off 1.50 per day per person.  Since 2 of my daughters are in school for two of those meals, I am taking $2 from that budget.  So I have $5.50 per day to work with for a grand total of 27.50 for the whole 5 days.

For breakfast, we had Omelets.

Mine had 2 eggs, a slice of cheese and 1/4 of a Dollar Tree Keilbasa.  Theirs had the same ecept that it was more of a scramble because with only two eggs, it was thin and hard to flip.

Willow snacked on a piece of cheese while she waited and I mindlessly handed it to her as well as my leftover soda from yesterday.  So I had to add those into the tally.  My total should be under 1.50 for the three of us and it did fall under that line as far as actual food goes, but I had to spend more to get the groceries.

Keilbasa Omelets:

Price paid / Amount used

4 eggs = $.99 / .33
3 cheese = $1.49 / .30
1/4 Keilbasa = $1 / .25
Dollar Tree Soda = $1 / .17
Total cost = $4.53 / $1.05 (.35 per person)

Budgetted money left: $22.97

My biggest challenge so far is going to be mindlessly handing over snacks and drinks.  I do that a lot during the day and did twice already this morning.

Caught my daughter snacking on teddy grahams *sigh* Another dollar gone from the total budget.

Lunch was a package of ramen with broccoli and chicken breast.  Total was $.85 for the meal, .28 per person.  The ingredients cost me $3 to start with.  Counting the teddy grahams, I have $18.97 for the rest of the week with lots of left overs.

For dinner, we had sealeg sandwiches.  We used about 1/2 a package of imitation crab meat, some mayo and 4 pieces of bread.  Total cost of it was $1.30 or .43 per person.  The ingredieants cost $3.78, bringing my budget down to $15.19.  I'm starting to get nervous :\  But I do still have a lot of ingredient leftovers for other things.

Is snacks really necessary to have everyday or even to buy?
