I am curious, after reading another post here, about the backgrounds of our SO/ Husbands and how tidy or messy they are.

My DH grew up with his dad who is super messy... DH and 2 of his 3 siblings are extremely clean (1 of them clinically OCD).... I think they get the clean gene from their mom that they we not raised with.

I am clean, but my DH is more so... sometimes he drives me nuts.... since his bro is OCD we joke that he is just OC

I voted never and messy, but he isn't really messy, just messier then me lol.  And he did move into the house for 5 months before I technically moved in.

Mine lived on his own for a few years before me and he is neat. He keeps his stuff picked up, will wash dishes and help out around the house when it needs it. He even threw in a load of laundry in the washer and then hung it on the line before we left for work this morning.

Mine is a Marine, he joined at 17, so he's never really been "on his own"...he is horrible at simple things, like taking three steps to throw his trash away or putting things away after he uses them, but he helps with dishes, vacuuming, outside work and he's great with the babies so I don't complain often lol.

* nodding *  This is funny that he complains about neatness but doesn't pick up after himself. LOL!

Quoting COcowgirlKris:

This couldn't be more true! My man was in the Marines so I know he knows how to clean then he lived with his ex wife who was a crazy evangelical (we are talking cult worthy) so the house was expected to be spotless. I'm assuming that he is bucking the system after all of that because this boy omfg I want to punch him some times lol. Then he says hes never lived somewhere so messy...neither have I darling maybe if you could clean up after yourself from time to time it wouldn't be so dang messy!

Quoting karen2112:

If anything ever happened to me but dh would end up on an episode of hoarders! Everyday its a search for his keys/wallet/glasses/knife.

My SO lived on his own for years. He's a messy. However, progress is being made in the past 7 years we've been together.

My husband was a Marine.  They make sure to teach them how to clean..  My husband cleans better that I do when he's in the mood..

Mine wasn't in active service, but when he had basic training they taught him how to make beds for sure. His bed making is far better than mine, and he is good at cleaning, too.
