Try care.com

I have waaaay too many kids to put them in daycare or hire a nanny, so it wouldn't be cost effective for me.

Yes, I have hired a Nanny before.  I posted an add on craigslist, and I interviewed about 10 of them.  Out of those 10 3 really stood out, and did a 2nd interview with.  Then I called their references.  After that I picked 2 to meet DD.  Both came to the house, took a walk, and played at the park with her.  During the time they were playing together I stepped away to see how DD reacted, and how the Nanny reacted.  Both were great and couldn't say no to either, but I did.  She was my Nanny for 2 summers.  DD was at that age where daycare cost way to much, but she couldn't be left home alone, so I thought a Nanny was best.  I also picked a young lady that was on the younger side because I knew she would have fun.  It was a blast and she was also our babysitter during the fall/winter time.

There are also some great website as well.

I agreed. Care .com screen their worker on criminal background check.
