When you bleach your white clothes, does it ruin them? I always bleach all of our whites and it seems its wearing out our socks faster, like the elastic gets too stretched out really fast. If the bleach is causing this, what else can I use on the whites to keep them white? Also, does the brand of bleach make a difference? Thank you ladies.

I alway make sure the bleach and water have mixed before adding my clothes. I use half a cup per load.

I use Mrs. Stewart's liquid bluing. It has been around forever for whitening clothes and is non-toxic.
The only time I use bleach is if a white item has a really bad stain. I usually boil with oxyclean first and 90% of the time that gets rid of the stain.
