Home remedies for everything....

Do you use home remedies for illness, or facial care, or cleaning? Or do you rely on OTC or prescription drugs, cleaning supplies and beauty products from you local store?

Like Baking Soda or onion juice for Acne or Strawberries for blemishes on your face?

Avacado for a creme rinse in your hair?

What natural remedies do you use?

I've never tried any of those things.

We use vinegar for cleaning sometimes - not sure if that counts.

I use garlic oil in ears for ear infections.  Though now my kids don't have ear infections anymore.  But it totally worked!

I have done a hair thing with mayo and something else mixed together to condition it, and peanut butter for a hiccup cure.

Used tea bags that have been chilled are great for sunburns! It takes out the pain and redness. As far as herbs go here's a few medicinal herbs that I grow:

Angelica- fights infection

Bergamot- helps with cold symptoms/ sooths bronchial complaints

Calendula- used as an antiseptic & in cut/ burn cremes

Marjoram- calming & soothing/ used in aromatherapy

Lemon Balm- add to tea to help with colds, flu, depression, headaches, and indigestion. It's a natural sedative & antiviral.

Feverfew- treats fevers, menstrual cramps, and migraines

Echinacea- strengthens/ stimulates immune system and is a good back up treatment for a cold.

Pyrethrum- natural insect repellent

Salad Burnet- used as a wound herb to stop bleeding

And that's about all that I can think of for now... I use dishwashing liquid as a stain remover for laundry & it works wonders. Also furniture polish is a great stain remover for carpets & rugs.

Oh, I use a lot of vinegar to clean.  I use honey for sore throats.  I use apple cider vinegar for astringent (works wonderfully) and there are more uses for honey that I have wanted to try lately.
