DH does most of our grocery shopping and I'm SO grateful for that. But I'm trying to eat better and he's not helping.
The other day he was looking at the ad for our local grocery store. He said, "chips are on sale, should I get some?" I sort of grimaced and said, "That's not really something I should be eating."
So he went to the store and came home with TWO BAGS!
I know it's up to me to be strong. It's about will power (crunch, munch, crunch), but I just get these cravings for the salt and the crunch and (munch, munch, munch) before I know it... *sigh*
I'm honest with my DH. - No, he is not in the best shape of his life. Yes, he can stand to lose a few pounds. The only thing he has to do is follow my menu plan.
I listen to my own body. Through many, many, many, many slip ups I have learned just what putting junk into my body does to my body - it makes me bloated, tired, lazy and depressed. And at the end of it, I've got several unnecessary pounds clinging to me. It's easier and easier to just say no. If I have a craving, I find a healthy alternative to put in its place.
If you're going to cheat, at least make it ONLY ONE portion. It satisfies the craving and you don't feel nearly as bad for doing it. I portion out kids snacks like this all the time because if I don't, they will fill up on Goldfish crackers right before a meal. Sometimes, we have to do the same thing to ourselves.
My husband doesn't usually like the junk, but when I've determined to eat eveb better than usual, he'll bring home cinnamon rolls or something like it. I don't understand!
Robyn, have you tried kale chips? Salty, crunchy, healthy...

This is one that I am learning. I have to admit, though... knowing that those chips are in the house (the dill pickle flavor!!!) makes me want them RIGHT NOW, for breakfast!!
I won't, though. I won't. I won't, I won't, I won't. (imagine the Little Engine that could) LOL

Oh yes, we LOVE kale chips. Make them about once a week. We usually have them with a meal, but I guess I could make an extra large batch and keep them to snack on.

Damn that dill pickle flavor! LOL Saying not doesn't help. Say, "I will, I will, I will resist the temptation!" LOL My hardest time of day is night time. I always want a fourth meal.

Oh, you're right! Always positive words. How could I forget that? Nighttime is hard for me, too. Not sure why I was craving salt so early today! LOL I DID avoid them though. (I knew I could, I knew I could, I knew I could...)

Oh yeah and I love the salty stuff! Usually at night time though, with cheese. I have a serious chees addiction. LOL
