Anything character driven. I just finished Taken by Chris Jordan about a mom whose 11year old is kidnapped. Very good. Julia's Child-Sarah Pinneo about a mom who starts an organic food business while being a wife and mom to two young children. I really liked it.
I think the best one I've read lately is Porch Lights by Dorothea Benton Frank. When Jimmy McMullen, a fireman with the NYFD, is killed in the line of duty, his wife, Jackie, and ten-year-old son, Charlie, are devastated. Trusting in the healing power of family, Jackie decides to return to her childhood home on Sullivans Island, South Carolina.
